Maryland brewers
They don’t brew for the awards
But it’s nice to win

Maryland came in 10th place in terms of medals won. Neighboring states Virginia and Pennsylvania came in 8th with 8 medals and 5th with 12 respectively. Once again Colorado and California dominated with the most entries and the most wins.
I think the key take-away is that we have a world class group of brewers here in Maryland and the Mid-Atlantic region. We need to proudly support them as beer consumers and clear away the archaic legal barriers so they can thrive.
Thing of the day: Virginia, Maryland, & Delaware Breweries
It’s been awhile since I commented, but I read you every day, I always get a smile, and I think you are doing an amazing thing

Booya!
I see Flying Dog is having a big party down in DC to celebrate. You going?
@Dave – Thanks for the compliments. I have been having a good time on your site too.
@Al – I don’t think I will be able to get to DC. What are the details of the Flying Dog celebration?
Wanted to let you know about a fun competition we are holding in celebration of Octoberfest. It’s called Chesapeake Beer Madness–it’s a March-Madness style competition between local craft breweries and user votes will determine the winner after three rounds. There are videos about the competition and about beer located here:
