A Dad’s Job

The wooden playset
Takes seven hours to build
If they didn’t lie.

wooden playset

Written by Captain Hops

References: But they do lie.

They have mistakes in the instructions. They have pictures saying that the bolt must absolutely go through the second hole in one page of instructions and then all the rest of the pictures show the bolt going through the first hole and the project only works if the bolt goes through the first hole, but you don’t figure that out until 7 pages later. To be honest there were only 2 or 3 lies, oh yeah, and the missing 1.5 inch bolts, but those mistakes and omissions add up to approximately 22 man-hours of work to create the masterpiece you see in the picture.

Anyone wondering what this haiku has to do with beer has never spent two days in 95 degree heat putting one of these things together.

Cheers!

  1. I put together one almost exactly like that a few years ago. Even with my father and my brother helping, it still took upwards of 16 hours over two days to get it done.

My kids love it, though. They were sad to leave it behind when we moved.
