Alan Eames was a brilliant man, intellectual and comedic, an entertainer of the highest class. There has never been nor will there ever be a, a historian with more knowledge of beer. My wife and I attended many of Eames' lectures, and an hour with the beer king is truly an unforgettable experience. We often joke that we enjoyed his speaking more than any other of thousands of of lectures we have attended. I never met the man personally, and for that I am eternally regretful. Cheers indeed, to the true king of beer.

I met Alan in 1988. It was on the 4th of July. He gave me a copy of "The Beer Drinkers Companion". He signed too. I was trying to contact him. I am saddened by this news. Regards, Dan
